Deriving True Brand Signals
Brand tracking, which was often seen in the research community as a relatively passive reporting tool, is being reinvented by AI with a more renewed focus on decision-making and actionable outcomes.
“Reimagined by AI, brand tracking has become a strategic weapon, delivering timely, transformative insights that don’t just reflect reality but reshape how marketers respond to it,” observes Kantar in its article, “From flat lines to headlines: Are you still tracking like it’s ten years ago?”
Kantar further discusses how brand tracking has moved from static charts to daily insights: “What holds back traditional tracking methods is their reliance on rolling averages. This used to be essential to smooth out anomalies, due to constraints on sample size. But it meant developments took forever to show up — making it impossible for brands to know when to change direction.”
AI and other technologies have been working to overcome these challenges to make brand tracking truly dynamic. New filtering systems, for example, allow new brand trackers to remove outliers and reduce noise in real-time to deliver accurate daily metrics. “As well as analyzing long-term trends, you get responsive insights into how your current campaigns are landing. It’s an early warning system helping marketers make the right decisions at the right time,” says Kantar.
New strategic tools also allow more search, social, and sales data to develop more in-depth brand pictures over the short- and long-term. These can be used for more dynamic pricing and positioning strategies and to measure key brand equity metrics.
“By combining survey, search, social, and behavioral data, and adding metrics like pricing power, brand tracking now informs everything from campaign impact to pricing strategy. If your tracker hasn’t evolved, it’s time to catch up,” says Kantar.
TMRE Session Spotlight: Reimagining Brand Tracking
During TMRE 2026, which will be held October 5-7, the session, “Revving Up Growth: How NASCAR Reimagined Brand Tracking for a Competitive Sports Landscape,” will be presented by Maxwell Miranda, Director of Consumer Insights, NASCAR, and Peter Aschmoneit, Founder & CEO, Quantilope.
For a brand as iconic as NASCAR, staying ahead of the curve means more than just tracking awareness; it means understanding the brand’s place in the broader cultural and sporting landscape. After years of running a traditional brand tracker, NASCAR was interested in turning their tracking data into a more actionable and dynamic growth engine.
In this session, Miranda will join Quantilope on stage to discuss how he and his team transitioned their tracking strategy to a Better Brand Health Tracking approach with Quantilope. Alongside Aschmoneit, Miranda will share how they now leverage Category Entry Points and Mental Availability metrics to uncover current areas of strength and future white space opportunities. With their new approach to tracking, NASCAR is better positioned to grow their global sports league and win the hearts and minds of fans worldwide.
Key takeaways include: Adapting to a modern approach: How to know when a legacy tracker has “run dry” and what it takes to transition to a more modern, actionable tracking model. The importance of Category Entry Points: Why understanding what brings consumers to your category is arguably more important than what consumers think about your brand. Executing with confidence: How leveraging Quantilope’s platform allows you to transform complex data into a roadmap for “owning your space,” whether that’s strengthening existing associations or pivoting into new areas.

Are You Up to Speed?
The stakes are higher than ever for brands to optimize their marketing strategies. Brand trackers of old were often slow and unwieldly. New brand tracking offers agility and speed.
“Chief marketing officers need more than just a readout; they need real-time intelligence that drives competitive advantage,” says PA Consulting in its article, “Why traditional brand trackers are failing – and how AI can save them.” The nuanced reality of consumer sentiment, PA Consulting notes, calls for increasingly AI-driven dynamic systems that insights and marketing professionals can turn to for a powerful engine of growth.
PA Consulting points to several trends in the development of AI-driven brand tracking. From AI optimized surveys to real-time sentiment analysis and trend detection to taking it a step further by building an AI-driven data lab, PA points to the future of brand tracking. It’s become more of an ecosystem where data isn’t just collected but continuously analyzed, contextualized, and optimized in real-time.
“The question is no longer whether AI will transform brand intelligence; it’s whether CMOs will seize the opportunity to future-proof their strategies. For those ready to evolve, AI isn’t just a tool — it’s a strategic necessity.”
